| Introduction | I am in my final year of the DPT (Doctorate of physical therapy) program at OSU. I am a 2nd year LEND trainee there and the 2008-09 AUCD virtual trainee. I love children! It might be in my genes because both my parents are retired educators. My first experiences with teaching and leading kids was in 5th grade as a Sunday school aid! I love seeing childrens' faces light up when they learn something new and seeing them share their new skill or fact with their family. I also love running! I started runing when I was cut from the volleyball team in 7th grade and haven't stopped since. I have run 3 marathons and 4 half marathins since I graduated from Ohio Northern University where I also ran cross country and track. If you put those together, it fits that I also have a passion for promoting fitness for children, particularly kids with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities. I currently help with an adapted gymnastics program and I love the classes, even though I would make a horribe gymnast! |
