Introduction | I have been a journalist for nearly 20 years, working for weekly community papers and daily newspapers, including the Chicago Tribune and the Daily Herald. I currently am freelancing for the Aurora Beacon News and the Elgin Courier News. I have won awards for in-depth investigative reporting as well as for education reporting. One of the awards I won was from the Illinois Press Association for In-depth/Investigative writing for a five-part series on heroin use among Naperville, IL teenagers. I won another IPA In-depth/Investigative award for a story about how politics and money are linked to local development decisions. I've also written extensively about AIDS.
