| Introduction | When I began writing this blog, I was a 50 year old taxi driver battling a gambling and smoking addiction, and I had a desire to help others fight the same battle. Today as I approach my fifty-first birthday, where I can celebrate a two year abstinence from both gambling and smoking, my goals are changing as well. The focus of this blog is shifting as my writing involves all people, regardless of their trouble in life. My own struggles, and my commitment to my recovery, has permitted me to see both the addict and the victim. The more I look, the more I am convinced that they are connected, and that healing has to occur for both of them. |
