| Introduction | I have been a professional musician since 1965, taught guitar from 1968 to 1978 and also in the early 2000’s. I have a music education degree from Mount Aloysius College and attended Indiana University of PA as well as other colleges. I moved to San Diego area in 1978 where I managed music stores. I have worked as a professor for the San Diego Community College District since 1988. I also worked part-time for Grossmont College from 1995-2016. My biography was published in the 11th edition (2007) of "Who's Who Among Americas Teachers." In January 2013, I became International Editor for CQ Amateur Radio Magazine and have been writing the monthly column "CQ World Wide" since February 2013. I am active in amateur radio, and I hold the Extra Class license with the call sign AA6TS. I have had the opportunity to work with many well-known entertainers (see musician.tomsmerk.com) winning the San Diego Country Music Association "Entertainer of the Year" award in 1983, as well as awards for "Most Versatile" and "Best Band." I am currently working with the "Grand River Band" and am still writing songs and books. Write a post to say "Hi," or email me at tom@aa6ts,com. |
