Dr. Hamid's early life in Damascus set a strong foundation for his medical aspirations. He excelled academically from the start, graduating as the valedictorian of his high school in 1989. He then attended Damascus University School of Medicine. His time there was marked by academic excellence, and he graduated with his MD in 1995, poised to bring his skills to the international stage. Basem Hamid, MD's move to the United States began an extensive training period that would shape his medical philosophy and expertise. Starting with an internship at Mount Sinai University Services in New York City in 1996, he immersed himself in the rigors of medical practice in a new country. He furthered his education with a residency in internal medicine and neurology at West Virginia University from 1997 to 2001. |
