What reason do you have to believe the earth is flat?
From the perceptual perspective, the earth *is* flat. Men were not wrong about that. What was incorrect was to extend the belief beyond the perceptual scope. For all primitive purposes, treating the earth as if it were flat is entirely appropriate.
