| Introduction | My name is Mary. I'm 19 years old and I was born and raised in this beautiful city we call YYC. Sexual assault is a violent and serious crime that like homicide, should never be blamed on the victims. I am proud of Toronto and inspired by their persistence to rise against their police force, who wronged them by stating publicly that women can reduce their risk of sexual assault by dressing less like sluts. I'm appalled by their unprofessionalism and failure to serve their people. Sexual assault affects us all - Torontonians, Calgarians, men AND women - and it is the RAPISTS who need to be charged for their crimes and not those to whom they perpetrate against. The society in which we live needs to teach DON'T RAPE instead of DON'T GET RAPED. I hope that with this blog I can raise awareness about this cause to demystify and educate, and unify other passionate people for SlutWalk Calgary. Ladies AND gentlemen, it's never your fault.
