| Introduction | I’m Calvin Thomas, founder of Prodigal Altar Boy Films, a media company dedicated to telling stories close to my heart. “The Trouble with TQ” is about the late Rev. Thomas J. Quinlan (“TQ”), who as a young priest inspired by the Second Vatican Council (Vatican II), used the principle of adaptation to make the church more relevant to Catholics, and Catholics more relevant to the world. This film won a Van Gogh Award at the 2014 Amsterdam International Film Festival, World Cinema, Best First Time Director. While TQ did not live to see the final film, he saw portions of what would be the assembly edit of the movie and liked what he saw. I talked with TQ days before he died and his last words to me were, “Keep editing!” The May 2014 World Premiere at the Naro Cinema in Norfolk screened to a sold-out house. 2015 will be just as exciting.
