| Introduction | My given name is pronounced (Kah-Tse). In Highschool, I grew tired of the awful variations of my name and gave in. A decision I would come to regret. I told people to just call me (Katie)and I've been that ever since. I was born in Newark, NJ. I have always told people that I am Haitian. My family is first generation to come to the United States. They were all Haitians and so was I. I have had many a debate regarding my "authenticity". I am an American Citizen but I am a Haitian woman. I speak the language of my parents, Creole and French. I do my best to cook Haitian meals and practice good Haitian principles. I spent 6 months of my adult years living in Haiti as a member of a mission team. It was then, I fell in love with a people.
