About me

Occupation Day job: I work with individuals with disabilities and as a philosophical counselor. Passion: writing, philosophical research, hiking
Location Philomont, VA, United States
Introduction I love the great outside---the worlds that shake my world. My passion and liability are philosophy. I have had a long abiding interest in Eastern approaches to nonduality and especially appreciate Derrida's form of deconstruction. I lived in an ashram for several years. I am lover of the great mystery--the depth that breaths us. This is why I love the great outside --the large, the wild. It exceeds my sense of "mineness"--rupturing my own feeling of presence with the mystery of the Other that both ever exceeds me yet is not separate. In this line I am pursuing an inquiry into the philosophy of technology which includes: abstraction, cognition, freedom, spontaneity, spectrality, 'the' wild and embodiment. In addition to hopefully beginning PhD studies this year, I also hope to make it back to Nepal in the next few years, hike a significant portion of the AT and perhaps climb Mt Rainer.
Interests philosophy, reading, writing, hiking, being with my children

O man, take care!
What does the deep midnight declare?
" I was asleep—
From a deep dream I woke and swear:—
The world is deep. Deeper than day had been aware.
Deep is its woe—
Joy—deeper yet than agony:
Woe implores: Go!
But all joy wants eternity—
Wants deep, wants deep eternity." --Nietzsche, Zarathustra
