Introduction Proteqt Children’s Foundation's (PCF) mission is to provide educational sponsorships for vulnerable children - especially those orphaned by AIDS - in the Rakai District of south-western Uganda, a district particularly ravaged by the HIV and AIDS epidemic. PCF was conceived in 2004 when, in response to a plea for help, the Evelyn family of Barbados decided to finance the education of a Ugandan teenager. This student went on to complete his A’Levels and in April 2007 Dr. Veronica Evelyn visited him in Uganda. Proteqt Children’s Foundation was born as a result of the findings of that trip. With the help of people who care, PCF strives to empower these children to build better lives for themselves and their country. PCF became a registered charity in August 2008 and is currently run by a nine-member board of trustees.
