Introduction	Well...my name is Gemma and I've never contributed to a blog before! I'm a member of the Fundraising team at Deafness Research UK, and have tinnitus as well, so my interest in this topic is two fold! I'm 25 years old and I guess I first started noticing the 'noises' in my head when I was about 14/15. They were never very loud, so I just assumed it was one of those things. I remember asking people on a couple of occasions, "can you hear that?!", which of course they couldn't! It's only really since I started working at Deafness Research UK that I realised a thing called tinnitus existed and that was what I was experiencing. I personally think it's really heartening to know that research is being done into what is an incredibly misunderstood condition and I'm delighted that through my job I am helping to contribute to work that could potentially help so many people with tinnitus.
