| Introduction | I‘ve had a lifelong love affair with skis and books so writing a blog that relates to both is a natural fit for me. My library education extends to the doctoral level and my ski experience includes U.S terrain in the east and west as well as the magnificent Alps. As a former ski instructor & librarian and a current ski racer and professor, my credentials as The Skiing Librarian are well tuned! // I wish more people understood the magic of libraries, and were able to use the wired world more efficiently and effectively to find information that is real and to recognize when it is not. // This blog uses one jumping off topic, skiing, to illustrate that vast amounts of information are available on the web and in library-hosted (and funded) databases and ebooks. There truly are “best practices” that enable the search for knowledge. They are not well known, but neither are they secrets. // I seek to teach and demonstrate those skills while simultaneously writing material worth reading. // Email me with questions about skiing that a librarian might be able to answer. I love a challenge—whether on the slopes or in the stacks! ~Dr. C.K. Schofield~ |
