| Introduction | Professor, Doctor and Engineer, Vedat Shehu, Albanian-American, received his doctoral degree as an engineering geologist from the Technical University of Ostrava(VŠB) in Czechoslovakia (now Czech Republic) in 1959. At the start, he was engaged in ore research work, and subsequently, his main work was focused on geological engineering studies of rivers for hydropower station construction, the tunneling and of building sites of large constructions; and also on the problems of dynamic Earth processes. He has published scientific papers on the geology of different zones throughout the Albanides. His integrated views have appeared in successive editions of The developing Earth(Albania, 1988), The Growing and Developing Earth(USA, 2005), and lately in an enlarged edition in Albanian (2009), and as an scientific Pamphlet in Tirana (2013). He has participated in many scientific activities, ranging from collaborating on the preparation of the geological map of Albania(1983) to presenting his theory in International Workshops in Italy(2004, 2011). |
