| Introduction | Rich Murphy is the Senior Web Producer at WTTG Fox 5 in Washington, D.C. He took the position after a year as the station's managing editor. Fox begun an aggressive web initiative in 2006, and Rich wanted to be in on the ground floor of myfoxdc.com. Murphy's career path began in video editing. He started in 1984 at WXFL in Tampa as an editor trainee. Then he picked up a camera and was a photojournalist for the next 16 years in Tampa, Charlotte and again in Tampa. Along the way he has worked as a one-man-band reporter, assignment editor, chief photojournalist, special projects producer, satellite coordinator, field producer, assignment editor, executive producer of special projects and managing editor. He has taught sessions at Poynter, the National Association of Black Journalists, the National Press Photographers Association, the University of South Florida and Visual Edge. Awards include an Emmy, a Murrow, numerous Associated Press, Green Eyeshade, Society of Professional Journalists and NPPA awards. @MurphyUMD |
