Introduction“Aus alten Märchen winkt es/Hervor mit weißer Hand,/Da singt es und da klingt es/Von einem Zauberland...“ – Heinrich Heine What is it about the written word that so draws us in, readers and writers alike? What brings about the strong desire to write down what we observe, think, and feel? We find ourselves going through a world full of complexities, observing it and, in what we do, taking part in its development, wherever that development might be going. The texts published here, are various and wax from equally various sources: my service as parish organist, lecturing and studying at university, engagement with literature and music, whether as reader/listener or the one crafting it, all intertwined with one another and with my considerations as they are in me as man. Many answers I may not have, but questions I can pose and I can share my observations with you, whether through text or music, hoping that my doing so will encourage contemplation and provide edification.

If mud is dirt plus water, what is clay?

Two valuable substances combined to make a third from which the craftsman's hand can make useful objects.
