IntroductionAfter more than 15 years as a screenwriting teacher, script consultant and writing coach, I’ve encountered over 2,000 screenwriters ranging in age from 17 to 82, from those just starting out to a bunch who’ve gotten deals, sold scripts and had movies made. Some have good writing habits, most don’t. I’ve learned that there are two kinds of screenwriters: those who finish the first draft (and subsequent revisions) of a screenplay and those who don’t. After all, creativity can’t be turned on and off, right? Wrong. It must be turned on. Screenwriters have to force themselves to keep on keepin’ on. But how? For one reason or another (or several) most screenwriters lose their way, fall out of love with their story, encounter unforeseen plot problems or reach a brick wall that seems insurmountable. They become immobilized. I’m confronting this problem head-on with Screenwriters Rehab. I’ll be pinpointing the problems screenwriters face and offering solutions to helping you get back on track. Screenwriters Rehab is for screenwriters who’ve lost their way, are floundering and need a jumpstart. It’s designed to help screenwriters nurse themselves back to creative health.
