Introduction A couple of years ago, I got this idea for a short story about our dog, Punkin. She was a very smart dog and she was loved by everyone. She was so attached to Mark, that I worried about her when he left to work in another state. With just me and her in the house, I started talking to her. She started talking back the way dogs do--kind of a whiney-growl. I wrote a chapter for each thing she did, wrote an introduction chapter, and then wrote that she ran away to find Mark. As I was writing, I decided to have Punkin tell the story and I imagined what she would say if she could tell it. By the time I got to the 5th chapter, the story was writing itself. I just had a little trouble figuring out where it would go from there, but it all came together as I wrote. The result was a cute little story about a lovable dog that seems to appeal to children and adults alike!
