IntroductionI received my Holistic Health Counseling Certificate from The Institute of Integrative Nutrition in 2008. I also hold a Masters Degree in Education and Special Education and a Bachelors Degree in Communications. I recently started blogging about health and wellness (kimgilroyinsideout.blogspot.com) and continue to research and explore personal wellness, lifestyles and recipes. Through my Taste and Talk Series, individual sessions and wellness lectures, I look forward to helping people understand their bodies and the lifestyle that will allow them to meet their health and wellness goals. I believe in living. Too many of us walk around tired and depleted. We think that by eliminating certain foods or trying a new diet we will find the body and energy that we desire. In the five years that I have been studying health and wellness, the many trends and conflicting opinions on what it means to be healthy have made my head spin. It has left me only to rely on one thing: what my body tells me. I want to teach people how to understand and listen to their bodies! It's vital.
InterestsEverything! Life, God, people, food, sports, the arts. I am currently working really hard on making my interest the moment. Creating interesting moments and truly being invested in those moments.
Favorite moviesChildhood favorite was Mary Poppins. Teenage years, Billy Madison. Twenties, Magnolia. Most recent, Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (European version).
Favorite musicEverything from Wilco to Jay-Z. I love learning about new artists on 90.7 and I love the guilty pleasure of top 40. I am moved by Aimee Mann, Van Morison, Pearl Jam, Alison Krauss and Alicia Keys. Louis Prima and Keely Smith touch my soul for a number of reasons. I am a sucker for Cold Play.
Favorite booksI want to say something intellectual but the truth is, I read a lot of health and wellness books. I am currently reading and enjoying the Omnivore's Dilemma (for the second time), Your Body Speaks Your Mind and The Art of the Inner Meal. Next to my bed waiting to be read is Catch 22 and the Bible.
