| Introduction | Bruce Smith is a Family Physician, trained in Preventive Medicine and certified by the American Academy of HIV Medicine. A former elder of the Redlands, California, Church of Christ who has made multiple trips to Africa exploring with church leaders how to better deal with HIV, he and his wife Beth are currently supported by the Landmark Church of Christ, Montgomery, Alabama, to begin an HIV mission based in Malawi, in southeastern Africa. They spent 8 years working in Central America, training health promoters in villages far from formal medical care to deliver primary care to their neighbors. Bruce is interested in exploring alternative delivery systems to deal with the HIV crisis in Africa. |
