Introduction Last autumn while teaching eighth grade at the Rudolf Steiner School in New York City, I received an email from an English woman who had recently travelled to Sierra Leone in West Africa. She had gone to Sierra Leone to visit a friend and former classmate from a Waldorf teacher training program in England who was running a Waldorf school just outside of the capital, Freetown. This email and the school's website described the school's beginning as a refuge for street children and former child soldiers. According to the email, the school's teachers, though incredibly dedicated, were in need of training, supplies, and colleaguial support. With the help of two of my colleagues at the Rudolf Steiner School I wrote a proposal for a teacher training project and raised the needed funds to spend an academic year at the Goderich Waldorf School. All of the funds were donated by parents, staff and friends of the Rudolf Steiner School. This journal will describe the progress of the project and the school itself for the duration of the year.
