Introduction Russell started teaching tenth grade World History 2 in the fall of 2012 at Santa Fe Prep in Santa Fe, NM, and is entering his twentieth year of teaching. He graduated from Colgate University with a bachelor's degree in history, German and Japanese studies. He earned his master's degree from Middlebury College in German studies and his Ph.D. in modern German history from Pennsylvania State University with a focus on the role of emotions in the everyday life and politics of the Weimar Republic. Russell has taught history and English at the Mercersburg Academy in Pennsylvania, and lectured at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and Pennsylvania State University on Modern German history, Fascism, Nazism, the Holocaust, comparative genocide studies and human rights. He continues to research and publish his work, and is currently co-editing a book project on the history of emotions in German Studies and co-organizing a seminar series on emotions for the German Studies Association.
