I used to be a Woodworker
My blogs
| Introduction | For about thirty-five years I was a self employed woodworker, building cabinets and other furniture for customers in Brooklyn and Manhattan. That's me in the picture carving a rope molding on one of my last big jobs. I loved woodwork, the ability use all my facilities; head, hands and heart to make handsome and useful things. You might notice I'm wearing earphones, I'm probably listening to Rush Limbaugh. When I take the train home I'll probably be reading a military history, or something on traditional Architecture and design. In 2008 two things hit me pretty hard, the recession and a bone marrow disease. I finally had to give up my shop in the winter of 2010, but I still kept reading, still too much as my Grandmother would say. I hope to use this blog to get stuff off my chest on the above subjects, and anything else that crosses my path, and to keep from getting under wife's feet. |
