| Introduction | I have a lovely piano but I've yet to learn to play it. Am in complete awe of people who can sing or play an instrument. I became a mother to my beautiful Chloe at 18. How she turned out to be such a well-adjusted, loving and giving young woman never ceases to amaze me. I live in Dublin with 2 dogs & a very grumpy cat. I lost my job in 2009 & then decided to try to "future-proof" my career. I began exploring the tech industry & discovered a wealth of generosity & open-mindedness that I'd not come across before. Since 2011 I'm delighted to be working with a tech start-up accelerator programme in Dublin. In the 80's my Mam owned a swap shop called Second Thoughts, a place where you brought your old clothes to sell. I didn't know then that she was an entrepreneur. It turns out that each of her children has owned a business at one stage or another and this blog is a nod to my Mam, the busy businesswoman and home-maker. If my Mam hadn't set up Second Thoughts, I would not be able to boil an egg (or a potato) - It was my job to peel the spuds & put them on to boil at 5.40 each evening before she came home... |
