| Introduction | I am a freelance Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation Consultant. I have worked across in Latin America, South Asia and South East Asia for interntional NGOs, government, local NGOs and International Organisations including the UN, ADB and World Bank. I believe passionately in a participatory and consultative approach because I know that the real experts on how disasters affect a community are community members themselves. In order to create, long term, sustainable and effective solutions, activities have to be rooted in an understanding of the community, and have to reflect their priorities and their needs and this is at the centre of everything I do. This knowledge has been born out of direct work experience with a number of different organisations from UN agencies, international NGOs to grassroots organisations across South Asia, Latin America and South East Asia. I am able to bring direct field experience and knowledge of how each level of the industry (from the grassroots through to multi-lateral agencies) works to improve programmatic responses. |
