| Introduction | [ 조 미 영 CHO, MI YOUNG 趙 美 英 ] After graduating from Hongik University with BFA, MFA and completion of Ph.D in Korean Painting, Mi Young Cho has held 20 solo exhibitions and numerous group exhibitions. In her works, the artist takes on the process of refinement with Korean traditional material. She draws out the essence of what she is trying to say or express and brings out the utmost expression of refinement and exquisiteness through lines. The artist searches for the nature of life through painting ‘feathers’ that fly freely between the air, which is created by subtle difference in pressure or flow. Using feathers or eggs, subjects that have become synonymous with Mi Young Cho, the artist fuses together such symbolism to make a description of conscious thoughts about life through the construction of outstanding colors and spatial sense. She is currently teaching korean traditional painting at Hongik University Institute of Fine Arts and Design Education and National Museum of Korea. |
