About me

Introduction	Family and friends are very important to me. My wife Val and I have three amazing daughters, Sarah, Rebeccah and Ruth and eight delightful grandchildren. I have five siblings and an ever expanding extended family. Kindness from my family has surrounded me all my life. I love to be kind and laugh and find great joy in encouraging people and seeing them succeed. Val and I live in Raglan on the west coast of the North Island of New Zealand. Living in and belonging to a diverse, caring community is cool. I am a teacher and author and have taught in primary schools, a high school and tertiary institutions in New Zealand and a primary school in Australia. In addition, I have worked and taught in short term education/humanitarian aid work/projects in Africa and India and currently teach part-time at Te Uku Primary School, 10 kms east of Raglan. As you read my blog, my hope is that you see that kindness works and is an appropriate response to an increasingly hurting and divided world.
