| Introduction | Before forming ARKequity I was a principal with specialty-finance company J.G. Wentworth. I was part of a team that built the firm from a concept to a valuation of more than $1 billion. One reason for our success was the missionary work in the capital markets so that we could bring institutional capital to what was once a cottage industry. Another was developing process and procedure, from underwriting to securitization, which enabled institutional investors to gain comfort and participate in our business. That industry was developing a secondary market for structured legal settlements, then later, a secondary market for investment annuities. J.G. Wentworth consumed a good part of may career, so I won’t go into all the things I did prior, because it seems like so long ago. But today I share the same passion for process and procedure, and believe it is a pivotal element in the success of emerging growth companies. Regarding past, I will say I graduated from Yale with a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering and a Master of Arts Degree in Mathematics from the University of Virginia. I am also a member of the Board of Trustees for Episcopal Academy where I went to school. |
