| Introduction | My husband Mark and I own and operate a family farm. We grow grain and raise cattle. Mark is a newly recovering State Senator. While we miss some of the legislative life, we are still interested in politics. We enjoy the mix of agriculture and politics. I call my blog Broken Prairie Tales because Mark and I live on the prairie in North Central Kansas. Mark's great grandfather and great grandmother came to this open prairie to start a new life in 1869. Through their efforts and those of their decendents, the prairie was broken and their farming adventure began. Mark & I live on the original family homestead site. We built our house in the middle of a soybean field. With the exception of soybeans and dirt, we started with an empty palet. The last 30 years have been spent civilizing our landscape. Becoming an Extention Master Gardener has been a big help in our quest to turn this Broken Prairie into a family home. |
