| Introduction | I am an academic, an ecologist. I am American by birth, Australian by chance and choice. Moving has been a defining part of my life. I try to see and to distill what I see into its essence, to convey that essence in words that vary the light and density. I guess that I play at poetry. This blog is a new place for me. |
| Interests | I value truth. I am pretty much exactly what I appear to be. Sometimes that is unfortunate -- but there are few surprises. Intentional lies baffle me... why bother since truth almost always reveals itself and precious trust is squandered. I believe in accountability, and justice, and compassion. Sometimes these are in conflict. Sometimes there is a high price... but I can look at myself in the mirror. That's important to me. Beyond that... the sea, the quirky nature of humans, the amazing trust of one's dog, and trying to make some little thing just a bit better. |
