Introduction My first memory of bird song is of a song sparrow singing from the lilac bush in our backyard on Interstate Avenue in Portland. I was only 3, maybe 4. Of course I had no idea it was a song sparrow and my mother might have known it was a sparrow, but she didn't mention it at the time. It was years later that I identified that distant song memory. Over the years I've become more in love with birds~ their noble and sometimes comical lives, their truly epic struggles, their grace and beauty. Not to mention their incredible brains.
Interests Birds and all their wondrous quirks and behaviors. I like to check just outside my home office window to see what and who is about. My aim with this Log is to develop more self-discipline around looking and really seeing what's there on a more regular basis. To observe the effects of the different seasons and then to share some of that with any readers that wander by. Maybe a brief (and I hope not boring) description of some of the birds that share my yard and what they're up to at the time. And the critters too~ the bears under the bird feeders, the deer in the garden, the otters in the lake, whatever else may wander through.
