How is an ankle unlike a consequence?
An ankle is an object made of flesh whereas a consequence is a name for a situation. You can't hold or touch a consequence. An ankle doesn't happen as a result of something. You use ankles to walk around whereas no-one travels on consequences. People often suffer the consequences, but to my knowledge no-one has ever suffered an ankle. (Except if it’s broken.) No-one ever twists consequences.
