Introduction Hi, my name is Jessica and I'm actually not allergic to any foods. So why exactly do I restrict my diet? Well, I have committed to eating this way after discovering my nephew (born in 2010) has a rather long list of food allergies. Eliminating the many foods my nephew is allergic to from the whole families diet ensures he will not accidentally come in contact with the offending foods. After an allergic reaction to birthday cake on his first birthday resulted in a trip to the ER, we are very careful about the foods we stock in our kitchen. With such a long list of allergies consisting of commonly used ingredients, everything must be made from scratch. Eating throughout the day becomes a challenge. It has become my mission to focus on the foods we can enjoy, rather than the many foods that are off limits. Reinventing old favorites and finding new ones has become my passion. This requires a little extra time searching for recipes, testing variations, and preparing everything. During my quest to make yummy allergy free foods I have discovered there is a huge gap in available information for those of us who must avoid a great number of common ingredients.
Interests Food Allergies on our restricted list include, Wheat, Dairy, Eggs (Duck and Chicken), Whey, Buckwheat, Rye, Barley, Lentils, Green Peas, Garlic, Nuts (mostly almonds, hazelnuts, and pistachio, but we avoid all to be safe), Sunflower seeds, Sesame Seeds, Soy, and Apricots.
