| Introduction | Statement: My work centers around the idea of place. In my paintings I venture to create a place where the everyday meets with the uncanny. By moving these images out of context, familiar subjects or objects are conveyed into a new land where there is no dividing line between real or surreal. The experiences of my own cultural displacement along with found images ,old photographs , memories from childhood and dreams are the main sources for my work. I also use poetry and magic realism literature to visualize and recreate these invented places. The process of using different materials like oil paint, wallpaper, gesso, college, fabric and photo transfers provides an added challenge and opportunity to move my work around and see it from a different aspect.
