About me

Gender Female
Location Montreal, Canada
Introduction I'm a student struggling in Montreal who often turns to food, both cooking and eating, for comfort. I love to have the place to myself, blair the music, and just get lost in the mood, the music, and the food smells wafting through the kitchen. :) O, and I almost forgot, my sister Anna. She is my best friend and I cant wait for her to come visit in the Spring! WOOHOO!! (Also, to clarify, the picture is not me. :P That's Sadie The Cat and the love of my life... that is... until my roommate moved away and took Miss Sadie with her.)
Interests Baking, Cooking, Spending time with friends and family, Cooking for family and friends, Receiving praise from family and friends for the food I make :)
Favorite Movies Oh boy, there are so many! Favorite "oldies": Princess Bride, Holes, Lord of the Rings Trilogy!, Harry Potter, Clueless (for the subtleties that went over my head while watching as an elementary school girl), Grandma's Boy, Knocked Up, love laughing at the Cheech and Chong movies :), there's more... but I'll get to those as they come to me in the future... Currently I am very into the movie "Oldboy". It is a Korean movie made in 2007 and it seems NOBODY has heard of it. There are subtitles (unless you want to listen to the funny, english-dubbed version) so it requires a bit of reading comprehension... and it gets pretty freaky and bizarre... but it is really good. If you like the slightly twisted, artsy films... then watch this one. I want to make Char siu bao and other asian inspired foods and hunker down to watch "Oldboy" again. :)
Favorite Music I'm told that to say you "like all types of music" that it means you really don't know what you like and you're a follower. (I believe thats from Klosterman's 'Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs') That being said... I really do love all sorts of music. I say I hate country, only to come across a country song I can tolerate. There's even, regrettably, a new Miley Cyrus song on my iPod that I ADORE. :) I enjoy rock, rap, pop, afro-pop, spanish pop, really... I'm not so into die-hardly following a band/genre and knowing everything there is to know about them (I don't even know half the artists on my iPod that I listen to most often), but I enjoy music. Chances are if you give me a track to listen to I'll end up enjoying it. :) Oooh... love Peter Frampton (because my dad took me to a concert at the zoo when I was younger), and Hall and Oats (for similar reasons... fell asleep at a concert with my dad and sister), and recently loving to cook to oldies such as The Weight by The Band (I just Pandora it and listen to whatever comes on).
Favorite Books Goodness... love reading books too. I'll just mention a few of the recent ones I've read... Currently I'm reading 'Pride and Prejudice and Zombies' because I ADORE 'Pride and Prejudice' and, after all, the zombies version was a NYTimes best seller. Not a fan of this one so far, though. Just finished reading a few Jon Kraukauer books. He's written three, I read "Under the Banner of Heaven" and "Into Thin Air". Wow. Both very good, compelling books. Going with my twisted plot line infatuation (see movie "Oldboy"), I love love love Chuck Palahniuk. I've read 'Invisible Monsters', 'Choke', 'Diary', 'Haunted', 'Rant', 'Snuff', and 'Pygmy'. The last one being the most difficult to follow... and probably the oddest to date. He is very talented and I love reading him. One of my all-time favorite books has been 'Flags of Our Fathers' which I read my senior year of high school. If you've seen the movie, don't let that deter you from reading it... the book is great! There never should have been a movie... it did the book such a disservice. There are a lot that I love... simply too many for me to recall.
