Introduction	I am a terminal father. Born at the center of the last century, I’m moving into this one even as I watch my children move ahead of me into the distance. My plan is to save myself from this abandonment by ending up where I began. I want to once again enjoy the no-hands-on-the-handlebars freedoms of boyhood. I want to reimagine the first blush of love and the security of a family loving you without needing anything in return. I want to get back to the satisfaction of a picture painted, a story written, a role to play, a job that I do for love and only then for money. For today, I’m still a father with farther to go. Tomorrow, everything changes.
