About me

Location Baltimore, Maryland, United States
Introduction The Gathering was founded in 2000 to fulfill a need for an inclusive Christian worship community that crossed denominational boundaries. Our name, the Gathering, was selected because of its close translation to 'Ekklesia' found in the New Testament. The Gathering meets each Sunday at 5:00PM for our unique worship service that incorporates traditions and rites that are meaningful to many Christian denominations. Hallmarks of every Gathering worship service include intentional prayer, a dynamic biblically-based sermon, moving music and hymns that range from classical to African American spirituals, and the sharing of communion. Our weekly service is held at the First Christian Church, located at 5802 Roland Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21210. Of special note is that we are just one of five congregations meeting at this church. Others include St. Andrews (Celtic), First Christian (Disciples of Christ), Mt. Olivet (Disciples of Christ) and Beit Tikvah (Reconstructionist Jewish).
