Introduction | Welcome to my art blog. My name is Elisa Hurst and I currently teach Kindergarten - 8th Grade Art at Calvary Baptist Day School. This is my 14th year of teaching at Calvary and my 15th year of teaching altogether. I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a BFA in Art Education. I am a licensed teacher with certification in K-12 art with the state of North Carolina, and certification in K-12 art with the Association of Christian Schools International. I am married to a wonderful man named John and we also have 2 wonderful canine companions, Biscuit and Ramona. In art class, students have the opportunity to explore the creativity that God has put within them through a variety of hands on art projects, while at the same time learning some basic art skills. Students are able to work on drawing, painting, and design skills using a variety of media and methods. A variety of project subjects and themes are introduced to create an interesting and exciting art experience. Projects are based on God’s creation, subjects that may be of personal interest to students, and integration of themes from other classes. |
