| Introduction | I am a life-long soap fan, from the womb, bitches! From the womb! Ahem, I must say most soaps have been disappointing me for the past decade (I've watched intermittingly in that time span however). I only "discovered" Y&R in the past 5 years, I watched somewhat in '99 when it was all about Billy and Mac, cause I was a teen and their story was classic (poor good girl, rich boy, domineering mother, where can you go wrong?), I was drawn in but due to high school and whatnot I couldn't watch regularly. College changed that, I was actually home in the afternoon and this sprawling tale of adults and their adult problems and the rich history of the show as well as its precise writing and character study just completely did me in, how could I not watch? Wonderfully that level of quality has been sustained through the ups and downs, it's never veered so far off course that I've wanted to give up, it's kept my interest. And really that's all I ask. |
