| Introduction | I am an avid art book collector. This blog shares news on the latest and best releases of books on art history and contemporary art. This blog will occasionally meander into other art world news on exhibitions, auction results and art fairs. My favourite art movements/styles include the renaissance, flemish art, baroque art, the pre-raphaelites, French salon/neo-classicists, Victorian art, the Nabis, Symbolists, Secessionists and Social Realists. I also have a whimsy for popular culture art including caricature, comic books, surrealist art, illustration and some pop art. Abstract stuff is a yawn for me - I usually find it lazy, derivative and/or meaningless (howsoever pretentious). There's a pretty clear and up-front sketch as to what's in and out of scope on this blog - sorry I won't be servicing all tastes. |
