Introduction I began this blog after my position as the LGBTQIA+ Advocacy Coordinator in the OR-ID United Methodist Church Conference was eliminated in February 2021. It is a continuation of the blog that I kept weekly in that position, in which I developed some kind of following, meeting people in various UMC churches who told me they would read my blog and forward it to others. I think it is important to keep a weekly blog on religious movements and LGBTQIA2S+ interests, as there is no other specific site or blog doing that kind of reflective, theological, public-oriented work.
Interests I am interested in the intersection of religion, the practice of pilgrimage, theology, politics, the work of the church (both universal and denominational-specific), and concerns and interests of those of us in the LGBTQIA2S+ community. I’m an openly gay Presbyterian pastor. I'm also a teacher, with multiple degrees in education: Bach. from Univ. of KS in music ed./music therapy; Princeton Seminary in Christian religious ed (M.Div); Harvard Univ. in religious education (ThM); PhD from Univ. of N. Carolina-Chapel Hill in special education. I taught at Whitworth University for 2 years, Duke Divinity School for over 10 years, and NC Central University for almost 4 years. I've served 13 churches as pastor. And I have a non-profit I maintain, School of the Pilgrim (schoolofthepilgrim.org).
