Introduction My simple rating system allows me to rank each movie I review into one of six categories: Masterpiece, Excellent, Rental, OK, Mediocrity, Avoid. Masterpiece – A rare encounter but always a must-see. If I rank something as a Masterpiece, not only is it worth seeing at theater prices, it’s worth owning the DVD. Excellent – These types of films are worth seeing in the theater, and of course, worth renting from the video store. Excellent movies are the ones you should strive to see. Rental – Not quite worth theater prices, but still good enough to rent from the video store. OK – From this category down separates the movies that you don’t necessarily need to see. OK movies aren’t really worth renting, but you probably could still watch them if they’re only a buck or they’re free. Mediocrity – Don’t waste your time watching Mediocrity. Avoid – When I rank a movie as something to Avoid, I mean it. Don’t watch it, even if it’s free.
