Introduction CJ Metzger creates paintings and mixed media pieces acrylics and oils that blend surreal and whimsical imagery. children's book illustrations, dreams, fairytales, and personal girlhood memories. She has attended CSULA, Art Center, then finally USC all while continuing to exhibit in strange locations (in a bank vault, on a roof top). Through this, she found that she also had a gift for graphic design, character design, and illustration. Currently, CJ’s work is being sought after by galleries, and is being collected by all sorts of arts-collecting types around the globe (she even has a painting in Antarctica!). On the design side, she has created designs for Nieman Marcus, Hot Topic, Hard Rock Café, and the Los Angeles Times and is working to create artwork and designs to adorn stationary, children’s products, art vinyl toys, and illustrating a children’s book due out on shelves July 2007. For CJ, her diverse creative life and career journey sure hasn’t been by any textbook, but she feels that for an artist there really isn’t one – and that’s just the way she likes it.
