| Introduction | I retired after almost 25 years of teaching mostly U.S. History. I started college late and did not begin teaching until I was 37. Before that I was: secretary, dog groomer, waitress, factory slot machine tester, stay-at-home mom. I didn't know what I wanted to do with my life. I left home at 18 and worked at Sherman Hospital in Elgin, IL. until I married Bill Miller in 1968. We have one son, born in 1971, and are still married after all this time. Our son is married and has 3 daughters; Elise (now 12) and the twins, Emily and Ashley (now 9). Bill and I live on a small farm where I have horses, cats, dogs and flower gardens. Bill raises chickens, ducks, turkeys and takes care of the vegetable garden. We have fresh eggs every day and fresh foul in the freezer. This is a wonderful life, filled with hard work, but worth all the work. Bill and I have both had heart attacks and have stents. I had mine in March of 2010 and now have 2 stents. Bill had his in March of 2014 and has one stent. We are both doing well now. |
