| Introduction | I have been in the retail industry for the last 20 plus years. Starting at working at a Wet Seal when I was 14 to owning 3 stores in Fred Segal Santa Monica, California. In 1994 everything changed for me. The Northdridge earthquake hit and I lost everything. Or, so I thought...I have a quote or mantra that I use,,,change is good,,change is good,,,change is good. This is is used often with my retailers as you can't move you or your company forward if you don't change. That single change forced me to go from being a snotty Fred Segal girl back to working regular retail. In doing so re-educating me about not only the important usage of visual but the bigger picture of the pushing the envelope in order to push your sales. I was lucky enough to have 3 great educators in this process..first and foremost- Fred Segal himself..Z Gallerie and Anthropologie. Without these 3 key places I would not be able to do what I do now. I started Birds Eye View 6 years ago and have not looked back |
