In the past, Mak Yong was performed during the culmination of the rice harvesting season. This artform, categorised as a Malay dance-drama, combines elements of rituals or incantations; acting and stylised dancing; vocal and instrumental music; narrations and scripted dialogues that are expressed formally yet in a nonchalant manner. It is mostly performed in Patani, Kelantan and Terengganu. |
