Introduction | I have been sewing since the 5th grade, thanks to our Girl Scout troop. I learned the most from two years of clothing in high school. My mother gifted me with beautiful garments from the 50s. Some were cotton, but most were silk. What fun!!! I sewed for others too. I made a prom gown for a friend at school, and costumes for my dance teacher. I didn't do much sewing for some time. Mostly curtains with each move. When I relocated to Florida, after graduating from engineering school at the age of 38, I decided it was time to get serious about quilting. I joined guilds in Miami and Tallahassee, and entered a quilt in each guild's show. I love designing and piecing, but am a lousy quilter. Then I moved to Fort Myers and fell in love with art quilting. No rules. No sewing, unless you want. It is still my favorite creative outlet. I haven't found a guild in Missouri yet, but I know one's out there somewhere. Mostly, I just love fabric - the colors, design, texture, etc. Preferably natural fibers. I ask friends to bring back a gem when they travel overseas. I have a dresser full, but am afraid to cut any of it. Silly. |
