| Introduction | I'm a polar climate scientist at the British Antarctic Survey. Previously I worked at the University of Edinburgh, investigating the potential impacts of climate change on Scotland, and before that I completed my PhD at Reading University about 'the response of jet streams to climate change'. My interests include the weather, fluid dynamics, global impacts of climate change, the communication of weather and climate science, and sport; and I'd like to know more about polar exploration and the psychology of risk and uncertainty. I also like jelly and high quality kids' TV such as 'Small Potatoes'; I think it's important not to take myself too seriously. This blog has gone through various incarnations; recently I had a year of blogging about (music) albums. I was diagnosed with coeliac disease last year, and while it's mostly a nuisance for me rather than anything more serious, I'll be blogging a bit about it and in particular my experiences 'on the go'; train stations and airports are in my experience the worst place for finding things so hints and tips will appear! All views are my own. |

For your birthday, your aunt gave you a maple syrup dispenser shaped like a rooster. Please write her a thank-you note:
This is genuinely one of the best presents I have ever received. I love to make pancakes and my husband loves maple syrup. My only complaint is that the shaping of the dispenser does not help me to make rooster shaped patterns out of maple syrup.
