Introductioni'm just living my dreams - always have. always will. sure i've had my share of 'nightmares', but i always wake up afterwards! :-) I'm a passionate, intellectual, analytical, playful and sometimes silly chameleon who loves experiencing and learning everything life and this planet have to offer. i'm a bundle of contradictions -- way too flexible and accepting but also stubborn and uncompromising in equal measure. i can be a laid backed daydreamer but also a focused and determined achiever. i always forgive, but i never forget -- only my family gets a clean slate no matter what. as a good friend, boo, once told me, i take giant gulps from the cup of life--sometimes choking on it--and i open up and give my heart too easily. perhaps. but we only get one ride on this roller coaster, so i want to fully experience every up and down, twist and turn it brings and not hold my breath, close my eyes, or clench my fists doing it either! olé, olé, olé!!!
InterestsI'm interested in silly things like achieving world peace, saving the planet, ending poverty and hunger, and finding cures for all diseases. i also love more selfish things like traveling, photography, learning piano, learning something new as often as i can (like SCUBA diving, at the moment). I'd rather share a few quotes that say a little bit about me: Boldness be my friend! (The Tragedy of Cymbeline, King of Britain; William Shakespeare); A coward is incapable of exhibiting love; it is the prerogative of the brave (Mahatma Gandhi); I don't wish to be everything to everyone, but I would like to be something to someone. (Steven Javan Jones); Can there be a love which does not make demands on its object? (Confucius); Make new friends, but keep the old; Those are silver, these are gold. (Joseph Parry); ...Just walk beside me and be my friend. (Albert Camus); Life is a long lesson in humility. (James M. Barrie); The purpose of life is a life of purpose. (Robert Byrne); ...always look on the bright side of life... (Monty Python's Life of Brian); Life is a great big canvas, and you should throw all the paint on it you can! (Danny Kaye); And one i was recently reminded of by a good friend, david berger, "what a day to be alive!" (quote from Mike Haney)
Favorite moviesWhere do I begin?? I'm a total movie buff, so the list is way too long. Here's a few that come to mind this very moment: Betty Blue, Camille Claudell, Life is Beautiful, Cinema Paradiso, Il Postino, Sofie's Choice, My Left Foot, The Last of the Mohicans. Chariots of Fire, Seven Years in Tibet, Jean de Florette, Manon des Sources. More recent, all LOTR movies, Braveheart, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Mar Adentro (The Sea Inside), A Beautiful Mind, Million Dollar Baby, Lord of War, Yesterday (Zulu movie), Inconvenient Truth, Freedom Writers. But there will always be a special place in my heart for The Wizard of Oz and Life of Brian.
Favorite musicIt depends on the mood, but there's never a bad time for Pink Floyd or Santana. Juanes or Shakira when my Colombian blood is stirring. Cher or Shania Twain when I need that 'woman power' feeling. Postal Service or Snow Patrol when I'm contemplative. Everything But the Girl after a break-up or heartbreak. Tom Jones if I want to go really retro. There's a favorite band or singer for every other mood, too.
Favorite booksSo many. I'll just mention my last two favorite reads, "Eat, Love, Pray" and "Surviving the Extremes". I haven't yet read a John Grisham book that I haven't liked. Does my Sudoku puzzle book count?
