| Introduction | My career with a larger mid-western police department has culminated with a unique opportunity. For the last several years, I had the privilege of being one of the founding members of its Leadership Academy. I have deeply enjoyed the challenges of continuously exploring divergent fields of study and research in order to; begin cutting edge initiatives, write vital curriculum and find top notch training to benefit and serve the men and women of law enforcement. I firmly believe that: • The basic mission of law enforcement is to build partnership with our community and leverage that partnership to instill safety, security and prosperity into our community and organization. • To that end; the profession of law enforcement requires a personal anima (inner way of being) that sees all people as people, is rooted in integrity, buttressed by courage and expressed as unconditional respect for all. To make the above operational, I have combined the science, research and doctrines from the divergent fields of psychology, brain physiology, sociology, philosophy, warrior lore, and military to develop simple yet profound processes and systems. |
